| Diocesan Environment and Art Committee hosting national conference in July Jun 23 2009
| The National Conference on Environment and Art for Catholic Worship, known as FORM/REFORM, will be held in San Jose this year, from July 16 – 19 at the San Jose Marriott.
Since 1983, FORM/REFORM is the only U.S. Conference devoted to the full range of issues in architecture, environment and art for Catholic worship. The theme of this year’s conference is “Know That A Living God Is With You”. [more] |

Seven men were ordained to the priesthood, May 23, by Bishop Patrick J. McGrath, marking the largest ordination class in the 28-year history of the Diocese of San Jose.
The ordination Mass and ceremony took place at St. Frances Cabrini Church, San Jose, which can accommodate a larger assembly.
The new priests are Fathers Thierry Geris, Roberto Gomez, Justin Le, Allen Navarro, Andrew Nguyen, Tan Nguyen and Ernesto Orci.

Bishop Patrick J. McGrath “morphed” into being a 75-year-old man with diabetes and a variety of economic problems during a poverty simulation exercise, April 20.
The simulation was part of the kick-off for “Step Up Silicon Valley,” the initiative of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County to cut poverty in half by 2020. [more] |

The Diocese of San Jose has a new Chancery building, located at 1150 North First St., San Jose, CA 95112. Diocesan staff moved into their new offices the week after Easter.
Since 1993, the diocese had been renting office space for the Chancery offices in Santa Clara at 900 Lafayette Street. Rents had been escalating at over $25,000 per year and the annual cost in 2008 totaled over $890,000. [more] |
