Queen of Apostles fourth graders held a bake sale and raised over $350 for the Nephcure Foundation. The sixth grade class also hosted a root beer float fundraiser to support the foundation.
Christian Jones, a fourth grader at the school was diagnosed with the condition at age two. The syndrome, a malfunction in the kidney’s filtering system, causes fluid to accumulate in the body and can lead to kidney failure. It affects 15 in every 100,000 children.
To increase awareness, on June 5 several students and their parents participated in a walk organized by Christian’s parents, Troy and Kara Jones, to raise money to find a cure for Nephrotic Syndrome.
Founded in 2000, the NephCure Foundation is the only organization committed exclusively to support research seeking the cause of Nephrotic Syndrome and to improve treatment and find a cure.
